New Petitions Against TaxPost by fathermushroom on Oct 20, 2005, 11:28amMike and the bots have made jokes about the headline "New Petitions Against Tax" in two episodes that I know of--when a newspaper whirls toward the camera, to display a plot-point headline like "Mad killer still on loose" or something like that.I've noticed that, on pausing the DVD or VHS during those shots, the rest of the newspaper is filled up with other faux articles, and indeed, "New Petitions Against Tax" shows up over and over and over.I think I've spotted it in over 10 MST'd movies. Does anybody have any inside scoop on this phenomenon? And which MST'd movies have you seen it in? I'll post the list I've got next time (don't have it with me right now.)


Re: New Petitions Against TaxPost by fathermushroom on Oct 21, 2005, 11:48amPretty sure it's in She Creature (where it's under the murder of Savage Pierre).I'll get the whole list after the weekend (don't have email at home, can you imagine???) but just think of any ep that featured a lot of newspaper headlines, and it's in most of them.She-Creature, Teenage Werewold (I think), etc.

We see a shot of a newspaper with the big headline "SAUCERS SEEN OVER HOLLYWOOD". The thing I love about these newspapers is the fact that the subtitles often have nothing to do with the banner headline. In this case, the subtitles include "New petitions against tax", "Traffic toll at new high", and "Building code under fire." People all over the place see saucers over the city, including an old woman, a homeless man, and a drunk.
